Join this two-hour session with artist Renin Bilginer as part of her Hinterlands project supported by the Canal and River Trust. The session will begin with a creative mind mapping activity focused on thinking about the relationship between women and water. Using a variety of artistic methods, we will take a short walk down the towpath and explore the colours, patterns and shapes found in nature along the canal.
Back at Bloqs, we will use this collected imagery as inspiration to create hand-painted textile patches with dye paste on dyed cotton. These patches will be incorporated into a larger public realm installation and collaborative performance with Ceyda Tanc Dance at Festival of the Lea, an artist and community-led cultural festival celebrating the River Lea, taking place at Bloqs and along the adjacent towpaths taking place on Saturday 13th July.
Please note:
We are working with dye so please wear old clothes
This workshop is intended for adults, however children are welcome under supervision.
